From the National Park Service: For months following September 11, 2001, people came together to grieve family, friends, and strangers. More than 20 years later, we still do. Sometimes called “Patriots Day” or “Day of Remembrance”, September 11 has become an annual day for many Americans to remember, reflect, honor, and mourn.

Attention Families: There was a social media post two days ago related to a national snap-chat trend by a middle school student. District administration has investigated the post and situation and found it to be non-threatening. All students are safe at Berryville Schools.

Ways to celebrate International Literacy Day: • Volunteer Those who love to read or are above grade level could tutor other students. You can also support a local literacy event. • Donate books Donate to a local literacy initiative or underfunded school. • Read a book Pick up a book and read to spark joy, learning, and adventure. • Visit a library Arrange a library tour with a librarian to foster a love of reading and language.

School Picture Information: September 5th for Intermediate, Middle and High School students. Elementary School pictures will be September 27th. We are excited to announce that we have increased student safety on our buses by implementing a new card scanning system! Starting this week, students are learning to scan their cafeteria/transportation cards when they get on and off the buses. This system gives us the ability to know that each student is safely on the correct bus and that they get off at the correct location. Please encourage your student(s) to keep up with their cards. More information will be coming soon. Stay tuned!

Families, there will be a mandatory meeting for those interested in Bobcat Academy (after school program) on Tuesday, August 13, at 5:30 pm in the Intermediate School cafe. This is for those who have pre-registered online, or want more information. The program is FREE, offered for kids in grades K-6, meal and transportation provided. We will have the official registration paperwork on hand. Join us next Tuesday!

Let's welcome Amanda Briggs to Berryville! "I grew up in Harrison, Arkansas! I moved to Clarksville to attend college and graduated from the University of the Ozarks with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In the future I will work to to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education from an Online University. I worked at Room to Bloom Children’s Center for six years and taught Kindergarten through Sixth Grade Math at Arkansas Children’s University the past half year. I have one cat named Hippy and one dog named Jingle who have more energy than a room full of third graders! I can’t wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you!"

James Long is coming to Berryville from Russellville, AR. "I will be teaching Science and coaching football and baseball. Something fun about me is that I am a very high level Pickleball player. Outside of work, I love to spend time in the outdoors hiking, camping, and kayaking. My favorite thing in the world is Diet Dr Pepper!" Welcome to the Bobcat team, James!

I graduated from Arkansas State Univeristy with a degree in Biology. My husband, Codie, and I have 3 wonderful kids and love spending time in the outdoors and with family. My time at Berryville as a student was very positively impacted by several teachers that I had. I can only hope I have the same effect. Let's have a great year!"

I’m married to my husband Chris and we have three daughters, Mallory, Aubrey, and Quinn. We raise Mini Aussie Doodles and Dachshund puppies, put on barrel racings and ropings, enjoy spending time with our family and friends, camping, and going to concerts. Gracen Agent is joining the Bobcat staff. Welcome, Gracen! " I grew up in Van Buren, Arkansas but I went to the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. I graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Secondary Education. This upcoming school year, I will be teaching social studies at the high school. As of right now, it looks like it will be US History and Civics. US History was one of my favorite subjects in high school and I was able to carry on my studies of American History at TU through some of my history courses. I am super eager to get to teach this subject so soon! I am so excited to start this school year and to meet everyone! "

Hello! I'm Shelby Hicks, delighted to join the vibrant community here in Berryville, AR as a dedicated first grade teacher. Originally from Bauxite, AR, I bring seven years of teaching experience and a deep commitment to nurturing young minds. My journey began at Arkansas Christian Academy in Bryant, AR, where I taught first grade for four formative years. Returning to my roots in Bauxite, I spent three rewarding years in third and sixth grade honing my teaching skills and connecting with students on a profound level. Beyond the classroom, I find immense joy in spending time with my family and embracing the outdoors. Whether it's hiking scenic trails or simply enjoying God's creation, these moments rejuvenate and inspire me. Passionate about children's education, I believe every student deserves a nurturing environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, parents, and the community to create enriching learning experiences for our students at Berryville School District.

The Berryville School District will provide students with school supplies. Families will only need to purchase organizational items such as backpacks or trapper keepers/binders. One exception: Elementary families will need to purchase headphones for their students. We look forward to seeing our Bobcats back in the classroom ! Enjoy the last of summer break!
