Jill

We are excited to welcome Dr. Jill Schowe to Berryville Elementary School, beginning July 1!

Dr. Schowe was employed by the Warren County R-III School District which is located about 50 miles west of St. Louis, MO for 25 years.  Titles held included teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, as well as Superintendent.  Earning a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University, her research and dissertation was on Professional Learning Communities.  One of the highlights of being a principal at Rebecca Boone Elementary was the introduction of the Rebecca Boone Trading Post.  This was a school store, that resembled a mini Walmart.  Students earned Boone Bucks for being at school each day, receiving no discipline referrals, and meeting their academic goals.  Students could shop one to two times per month to buy essentials such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, clothes, and food.  Rebecca Boone saw a tremendous increase in their attendance, as well as a significant decrease in discipline through this model.

Dr. Schowe and her husband moved to Southwest, MO in 2018.  She began working for Berryville School District in August of 2020, teaching seventh-grade literacy.  She taught seventh grade for two years, eighth grade literacy for two years, and for the 2024-25 school year, she held the position of of 6-12 Learning Coordinator.  She is excited to return to the role of the building administrator.  Setting goals and working with staff to reach those goals will be a priority.

Dr. Schowe and her husband Dale have three children together, Hillary, a psychological examiner with Special School District, Natalie, who lives at home, and their son Clayton who is in Vet School at the University of Missouri.  Their family enjoys, breeding, raising, and showing Limousin/Lim-Flex Cattle and raising Pembroke Welsh Corgis.  They also have one granddaughter, Charlie, who will be a kindergarten student next year in Missouri.
